4th Annual Chalk The Walk
• 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. | Maytag Park, 301 S. 11th Ave. W. Sponsored by Buena Vista University - Newton Bring out your inner artist and take part in the Chalk Art Competition. Trophies will be awarded for Best Themed, Most Creative and Best under 10. Open to organizations, companies, and individuals. The event is free. |
A Night of Magic with Eric Michaels
• 6 p.m. | Maytag Bowl, 301 S. 11th Ave. W. Hosted by Newton Fest Committee Be prepared to be amazed by the magic of Eric Michaels. From card tricks to large illusions, Michaels has enchanted audiences across Iowa for more than a decade. This free event is a must see for all ages. Bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. |

6:30 - 7:30 a.m. | H.A. Lynn Stadium, 1200 W. 6th St. S. Sponsored by Newton YMCA Saturday, June 8th the Y will host a Group Exercise Fitness class at the HA-Lynn Stadium @ 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 a.m. This is a boot camp style class where the participants will be working out on the bleachers, track, and field Free of charge. Patrick is also bringing his famous rides - the Munster Koach and the Drag-u-la - for display. Fans can meet Patrick, get pictures with the star and his "celebrity" cars and purchase autographs. Patrick has been part of TV and movies since he ws 7 years old and appeared on classics like "Bonanza," "Mister Ed," "Lidsville," "My Three Sons," "The Monkees" and of course "The Munsters." NEW! Children can also sign up to be part of the Jasper County Farm Bureau Federation Kids Pedal Pull. The state-sanctioned event will have sign up at 1 p.m. and will begin t 1:30 p.m. Trophies are sponsored for 1st and 2nd place. The event is a 4-person best shot tournament. Tee off is at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $45 per person with proceeds supporting the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund. An Evening With The Nelsons featuring Gunnar and Matthew Nelson • 7-9 p.m. | Maytag Bowl/Maytag Park Presented by Newton Fest, Van Maanen Electric, TPI & City of Newton Newton Fest committee members are proud to welcome rock band Nelson will be performing their show “An Evening with the Nelsons” on Saturday, June 8, at the historic Maytag Bowl. The band, featuring twins Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, will perform an evening of their biggest hits including “(Can’t Live Without Your) Love & Affection” and “After the Rain.” The brothers also will perform the songs of their father, rock legend Ricky Nelson. The senior Nelson, who died in 1985, had 14 Top 10 hits including two that went to number one – “Travelin’ Man” and “Poor Little Fool.” The concert is free and open to the public at Maytag Park. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and get ready to enjoy a night of great music. Food vendors will be on site to sell everything from tacos to ice cream. This concert is FREE admission.
