Sponsored by Young Professionals of Jasper County
Help start Newton Fest off right with the Newton Fest Kick Off Party - open to anyone over the age of 21. Featuring appetizers and desserts from DMACC's Culinary program as well as a cash bar from Hy-Vee featuring wine, beer and craft beer and live music from DSM Dueling Fiddles.

Bill Riley Talent Search
• 6 p.m. | Maytag Bowl Sponsored by Newton Fest committee Come be a part of Iowa history as talented youngsters compete in Newton's local Bill Riley Talent Search. Youngsters will compete in two divisions (Sprouts - 2-12 & Seniors -13-21) for a chance to perform at the Iowa State Fair and win scholarship money. • 7 p.m. | Newton Community Theatre In this hilarious comedic romp, four friends - Libby Ruth, Deedra, Monette and Charlie - have sworn to keep the promise they made on the night of their Senior Prom: to be in each other’s weddings…no matter what. Tickets will go on sale May 22, and are $12 for adults and $10 for youth. |

• 5:30- 7:30 p.m. | DMACC Newton Campus Brother Trucker, an Americana roots rock band based out of Des Moines, has toured the Midwest since 2000, playing festivals, bars, coffee houses, parties, and a myriad of benefits. With four albums to their credit, the band is influenced by the sounds of the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, and Drive by Truckers. The band consists of Andy Fleming (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Mike Fitzpatrick (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Lyle Kevin Hogue (Bass), Jim Viner (Drums) and Matt Jesson (Keys/Vocals). • 8-11 p.m. | DMACC Newton Campus Damon Dotson is a singer/songwriter originally from Northwest Iowa but now based out of Des Moines, Iowa. Dotson has released four original albums and played countless shows throughout the Midwest. His 2016 album, “Tumblin’” had a sold out album release show and climbed to #24 on the iTunes rock charts. He is no stranger to the area, consistently playing shows in the Newton area for the last several years. |
